WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE ARRANGEMENT CONFERENCE

When a loved one passes away, families are often at a loss as to what to do first.  The Beachwood Society is committed to ensuring that the families we serve make informed decisions and are educated on the various facets of this process.

Often, the director will make an appointment with the family to go over the loved one’s arrangements.  This meeting is typically referred to as the arrangement conference.  At this time, the director will gather information for your loved one’s death certificate, discuss the timeline of events leading up to cremation, assist with selecting urn(s) and other merchandise, guide you through the process of creating an obituary, answer all of your questions, and collect payment.

To prepare for the arrangement conference, we suggest that families bring the following:

  • Legal Name, birthday, address of the Decedent
  • Decedent’s Social Security Number
  • Names of the decedent’s parents (including mother’s maiden name.)
  • Birthplace of the decedent
  • Military discharge papers (DD-214)
  • Obituary information
  • Any notes, photos, mementos, or non-plastic/non-glass/non-metal items that the family would like placed with the decedent for cremation (These items will not be returned)
  • A photo of the deceased for memorial cards and/or obituary notices
