Eleanor Short
December 1, 1924 - February 10, 2022
Survived by daughter Barbara B Short of Cocoa, FL and grandson Stephen R Provost of Elgin, SC. Mom has a deep passion for music. She and my dad's mom attended the Boston Symphony Orchestra every Friday. She also was an avid skier, loved tennis and traveling. She also enjoyed volunteering for our community. She volunteered for the American Red Cross assisting their annual blood drive. She also assisted with fundraising for the PBS (Public Broadcasting System). She also enjoyed later on in her life visiting nursing homes to spend time with their residents. She was a brownie/girl scout leader for many years and loved passing on her knowledge to us. Mom decided to finish her dream of attending college. She attended Salem State college and received degrees in both English and music. She continued on to obtain her master's degree at Tuft's University both in English and music. She attended college when she was in her 60's, an amazing accomplishment. She worked as a supervisor training telephone operators for New England T & T before getting married. She married Seabury T Short Jr in 1954 and eventually became a permanent resident of Marblehead, MA. After obtaining her degrees, she went on to work for Tuft's University for several years assisting with their ROTC program. (I am very proud of her.)
